Tell them to vote NO on the American Health Care Act
The American Health Care Act (AHCA) is a dangerous and irresponsible plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act and cut Medicaid. We've seen two big changes since last month's defeat of this awful bill. These changes made an already bad bill worse. First, an amendment by Rep. MacArthur (R-NJ), Rep. Meadows (R-NC), and Vice President Pence allows states to discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions. Then yesterday, a last-minute amendment was added by Rep. Upton (R-MI), and Rep. Long (R-MO) that might look like it's designed to help the millions of people who could lose coverage, but in reality it will make matters worse. Republicans are trying to rush this through without a score from the Congressional Budget Office, even though nothing has been done to address the original estimates of 24 million people who will lose coverage as a result of the AHCA. Even more people will lose coverage as a result of these new amendments.
We must not tire of defending the Affordable Care Act. Please forward this message to your friends and family so that they can make their calls as well.
P.S. The changes to the AHCA mean that the American Health Care Act fails all of our 10 commandments of healthcare reform. We must oppose this bill!
